A digest identifies exact bytes under a declared algorithm. It does not independently establish authenticity, authority, correctness, admission, effectiveness, or reliance.
- Verify the exact filename, byte length, media type, and SHA-256 before relying on an integrity reference.
- Confirm that the digest belongs to the same edition and exact reconstruction being inspected.
- Confirm lifecycle status and operative effect independently of publication visibility.
- Confirm successor, supersession, revocation, and archive records before treating a publication as current.
